全劇以莊子<齊物論> 的哲学思想為核心，从莊周夢蝶主题出发，以莊子夢中的蝴蝶視角穿越古今，以纵向和橫向角度從公元前四百年戰國時期到2022年當代社會，以不同時期不同地域的東西方歷史人物展現人性的特徵和共性, 巧妙的連結東方與西方哲學思想，對夢境和现实，靈魂與生命進行思考 。全劇以二十幕場景展現連貫故事情節，內容精彩而發人深思。
